This new complex of buildings is located at Third Ave W and W Dravus St., fronting the Historic Tiffany Loop, which is another of Fazio Associates projects. The 117,000 SF University Center,is a two-building complex which houses a four-story classroom and office building with an attached 1,100-seat great hall. The second component is a smaller single-story shop building for the theater program that includes an extensive green roof component along with vertical vegetation, designed by Fazio Associates. The office and classroom building has 13 classrooms, a recording studio, exhibition gallery, visual arts studios, rehearsal and practice spaces, and labs for computers and instruments. Plans also call for 17 music faculty office-studios and 18 other faculty offices.
Fazio Associates was responsible for the site planning and landscape design. The site planning component was an integral element of the project and programs success. Integrating an elaborate art street and outdoor amphitheater to help activate this portion of campus and lend visibility to Seattle Pacific University’s Theater and Art programs was key in the design and the pedestrian experience. For Seattle Pacific University, a university shaped by the profound value of community, having a Great Hall is essential to Seattle Pacific University’s competitive edge in the future. The main entry courtyard was strategically designed to not only complement the existing tree grove in Tiffany Loop, but to embrace this space and have a seamless transition to this historic character of the campus and its community.
