(LEED Silver)
Client: Seattle Pacific University
This project, featuring 8 undergraduate research laboratories and 11 teaching laboratories was one of the first buildings in Seattle to achieve LEED Silver Status from the U.S. Green Building Council for its sustainable design and construction practices.
Fazio Associates role included site planning and landscape design that emphasized the preservation of historic existing elements while incorporating sustainable new elements. The planting and site design approach included a palette of drought tolerant plants, efficient irrigation system, and limited impact to the existing site. More than 50 percent of the exterior brick from the demolished Tiffany Hall has been used as pavers in the plaza and passive corridors adjacent to the new building. Many large elms were salvaged and incorporated into the overall design concept. This approach limited site design impacts and enhanced the integrity of the Seattle Pacific University campus layout.
